This song, in all it’s glory has so many meanings to me and evokes so much emotion in me… as you can see, it’s the name of my blog, but through the power of beautiful music, it’s so much more to me.
I first heard this song when I was in high school, turbulent times for everyone, me included. There was just something about this song!
I loved Powderfinger the band. Who didn’t? I had all their albums, been back stage at one of their gigs even. They were just true rock stars. Then this was released as the movie track to Two Hands – starring Heath Ledger. Ironic hey? (RIP Heath) It made the song even more epic.
Then when I met my husband, Az, we discovered our all time favorite song… this one.
Already it’s starting to gather quite a lot of meaning in my life isn’t it! Again, the power of music.
Then Powderfinger announced they were quitting. They would tour for one last time. The tour dates that I could get to were spot on the time I was due to have Archer. I was going to miss their last ever tour. Heartbreaking for me, but knowing why I was missing it made it ok.
Then I learnt that they finished their last ever gig, with their last ever song… and it was this one.
So, through my depression, this song has changed meaning for me, reflective of my life, and now it just makes sense for this song to be the base of my blog.
I love the words.
These days turned out nothing like I had planned…
These days are my days… Lindsay
These days was the song they played as they lowered the casket of my neighbour who had lost her battle with cancer. It has taken me 10 years to be able to listen to it without balling my eyes out. She had a 2yr old and 4 yr old… such an emotive song!
